Player biography
Oleksandr Volodymyrovych Zinchenko was born on December 15, 1996, in Radomyshl, Ukraine. He began his football journey at a young age, joining the youth academy of Shakhtar Donetsk. However, due to political unrest in Ukraine and a desire for more playing time, he moved to Russia and began his professional career with FC Ufa in 2015. His impressive performances in the Russian Premier League quickly caught the attention of top European clubs.
In 2016, Zinchenko signed with Manchester City under Pep Guardiola. Although initially loaned to PSV Eindhoven, he eventually returned and earned a place in City’s first team. Zinchenko became known for his versatility, technical skills, and intelligence on the field, often playing as a left-back despite originally being an attacking midfielder. During his time at Manchester City, he won multiple Premier League titles, FA Cups, and EFL Cups.
In July 2022, Zinchenko joined Arsenal FC, becoming a key part of Mikel Arteta’s squad. He continued to impress with his leadership, tactical awareness, and commitment. Off the pitch, Zinchenko is also known for his strong support of Ukraine during the Russian invasion, often speaking out in solidarity with his home country. For the Ukrainian national team, he has earned over 70 caps and played in multiple major tournaments, including Euro 2016, Euro 2020, and Euro 2024.
